Photo report: African Cultural Festival in MalmÖ

2-day festival in MALMÖ, Sweden juNE 2005

This slideshow consists of photos. The Swedish city of Malmö had it's own African 2-day festival June 29th and 30th. There was free entrance to Folkets Park (People's park) in Central Malmö and a well mixed programme of professional African artists living in Sweden and Denmark. The daytime offered mostly events for the children such as courses in braiding, animated movies, dance and face painting. But also exhibtion of African arts, crafts and textiles. The evenings had great performances on the stage with African reggae, traditional rhythms and a fashion show with clothes by Ida Wik and Jewellery by Joelle Golmann inspired by African designs. Among the bands were Urban Zoo, Wakilo (Dawda Jobarteh on Cora), Nana Osibio and Allone Kasse.Click on the pictures to enlarge.
